#ootd [prints-n-patterns]

Several weeks ago a friend of mine hosted a farewell party for a coworker of ours who has since moved to Florida. “What a great opportunity to come up with a fun outfit to share on my blog,” I thought. I don’t often feel inspired to mix prints and patterns mainly because I’ve never been confident enough. I’ve also been hesitant to embrace the crop top. I have a curvy tummy so I assumed that crop tops would just accentuate my middle (and make me super self-conscious). I wound up tackling both of these insecurities in one outfit! Not only that but it took me, maybe, 30 seconds to put my top and bottom together.

Shameless promotion ahead!
My coworker Kelsey, who’s featured above, is in an pop rock band called Yesteryear. They played at a few Warped Tour shows this year. You can listen to Yesteryear’s music on their bandcamp page. Kelsey sounds like an angel! You can find more Yesteryear music on YouTube.

Song of the Day
“Chandelier” by Sia
Damn, this woman can sing. I first learned of Sia after listening to Zero 7‘s “The Garden.” She contributed vocals to many of the songs in this album. (My favorite song from the album is “Waiting Here to Die.”) Her newest album, “1000 Forms of Fear,” is very good. Her vocals are consistently strong (and heartbreaking), and I love how she fuses her raw talent with the electronic beats and sounds of modern pop music. My favorite track from the album is “Elastic Heart,” which was featured on “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” soundtrack. However, I’m featuring “Chandelier” because it reminds me of the night I wore the outfit featured in this post.
