Leather & Lace
I can’t believe we’re already on day 3 of my JoJo Style Challenge! For day 1 I recreated JoJo’s fall-friendly ensemble from episode 2. Day 2 featured two casual looks from dates she had with Luke Pell. (One of my favorite contestants, I thought featuring two outfits was the least I could do to recognize this smoldering, All-American Texan.) Today, I’m vamping it up a bit by trying out a group-date look JoJo flaunted in episode 3.
Who wore it better?
I believe JoJo wore this outfit to the evening group date held after that awkward sex-story-sharing date. You know, the one where Wells talks about farting during a threesome, Daniel admits to getting a little 50 Shades of Grey in a past relationship, and Chad both shoves Evan and *audible gasp* rips his shirt after Evan, a Nashville-based penis doctor, says that steroid use can negatively affect one’s ability to perform. (Guys, do you think he’s talking about Chad??)
This lace skirt is the item from my wardrobe that most closely resembles JoJo’s beautiful embellished skirt. I think it achieves the same look, especially when paired with the mock neck crop top. Ladies–while I usually advocate working with what you’ve got, do yourself a favor and add at least one mock neck or turtleneck to your wardrobe. I think these universally flattering trends are often overlooked. I imagine it’s because people think of this when they hear the word turtleneck:
One of my style mantras is “less is more.” By keeping most of your top concealed, mock necks and turtlenecks give you the opportunity to play around with the rest of your look. Peak summer? Throw on a mini skirt and a fringe vest. Love accessorizing? Keep your bottom simple—a high-waist skirt or pant will do—then layer some of your favorite necklaces. (I love wearing my pearls with a few different, simple chains.)
What’s one of your wardrobe essentials? And, more importantly, do you think Chad is crazy? (Particularly after his shenanigans on Men Tell All, After the Final Rose, AND Bachelor in Paradise?)
Don’t forget to swing by the blog tomorrow evening. I will be imitating JoJo’s gaucho-inspired look from her week in Buenos Aires–one of my favorite outfits from the season.
